As a leading manufacturer of high-quality timber products since 1913, Glennon Brothers supplies both the Irish and UK markets with a wide range of timber solutions —from kiln-dried, strength-graded carcassing to pallet wood, Canadian Lumber Standard (CLS), and machined whitewoods for the construction and garden shed industries.
With operations spanning a 65-acre main site in Fermoy and additional locations in Longford and the UK, its logistics are intensive and non-stop. The business operates 13 forklifts and loading vehicles across multiple shifts and sites, moving vast quantities of produce daily. In such a demanding environment, tyre performance can play an important role in maintaining operational efficiency.
Before partnering with Continental, the business experienced ongoing issues with tyre durability, with its previous tyres wearing quickly and contributing to frequent downtime and costly delays.
That all changed in 2023, when Continental and ITS (Industrial Tyre Specialists) visited their Fermoy site and introduced Glennon to Continental’s range of solid and earthmover tyres. Their potential for longer tyre life and greater comfort in heavy-duty applications immediately resonated with the needs of the operational team at Glennon.
According to Glennon, the tyres have subsequently exceeded expectations, achieving more than double the lifespan of the tyres previously used in its operations.
Since making the switch to Continental tyres, Glennon reports a 50% reduction in downtime. ITS’s fast, reliable service for supplying and fitting replacements has also allowed Glennon to reduce tyre stockholding, helping improve both their maintenance planning and budgeting.
Regular site visits, data sharing, and tyre checks help Glennon support efficient operations and proactive tyre management.
