Your safety is our top priority. From the outset, our test engineers at the Contidrom have defined standards that are applied in our tyre testing activities around the world. Want to see for yourself where progress in tyre development is being driven to this day? Take a virtual tour and discover the many precision testing options available at our benchmark tyre testing facility just outside Hanover.
All our innovations must pass an intense testing regime before going into production. Each new tyre has to complete hundreds of test miles/kilometres at our main testing site, the Contidrom in Hanover, Germany. A total of 140,000 tyres are tested every year in different conditions. Last year, our test drivers covered a mileage equivalent to circling the globe 500 times.
We subject our tyres to more testing than any other brand. But that isn’t enough: we want our tyres to perform well in independent tests too. And they do: our tyres are regularly rated top performers in impartial tests by experts around the world.
When it comes to tyre safety, no distance is too far for our engineers. They travel all over the world to ensure that each of our tyres – whether winter, summer, all-season, or used for sport and off-road activities – is tested by experts in a wide range of weather conditions and on all types of surface.
To deliver safe, optimised and reliable tyres, our employees established new testing methods. Our R&D expert Andreas Schlenke explains how testing – from virtual simulations to objective and subjective tests – is an integral part of each phase in tyre development.
Our tyres keep winning tests all over the world. In 653 independent tests conducted since 2007, our products have received the highest rating 511 times – a remarkable 78% success rate. The awards that make us particularly proud include the award for the best tyre in the past 50 years from Auto Motor und Sport magazine. And in 2021, our AllSeasonContactTM won the coveted Auto Express Product of the Year Award for Best All Season Tyre.
