Your safety is our top priority. That is why we take all possible aspects of safety and comfort into account when developing its tyres. All Continental innovations have to pass an intense testing regime before going into production.
Each new tyre has to complete hundreds of test miles on our main testing site, the Contidrom. A total of 143,000 tyres are tested every year in different conditions. Last year, our test drivers amassed a mileage that would have seen them circling the globe 500 times.
We subject our tyres to more testing than any other brand. But that isn't enough: we want our tyres to perform well in independent tests, too. And they do: our tyres are regularly rated top performers in impartial tests by experts around the world. Renowned media outlets such as Auto Express in the UK and Germany’s Auto Bild and Autozeitung frequently rank our tyres more highly than those of our rivals. It’s further proof that with our tyres, you’re safe on the road in all conditions.
When it comes to tyre safety, no distance is too far for our engineers. They travel all over the world to ensure that each Continental tyre – whether winter tyre, summer tyre, all-season tyre, or those used in sport and off-road activities – is tested by our experts in a wide range of weather conditions and on all surface types.
To deliver safe, optimised and reliable tyres, our employees established new testing methods. Our R&D expert Andreas Schlenke explains how testing – from virtual simulations to objective and subjective tests – is an integral part of each phase in tyre development.
From the outset, our test engineers at the Contidrom have defined standards that are applied in Continental’s tyre testing activities around the world. Want to see for yourself where progress in tyre development is being driven to this day? Take a virtual tour and discover the many precision testing options available at our benchmark tyre testing facility just outside Hanover.
Our tyres keep winning tests all over the world. In 653 independent tests conducted since 2007, our products have received the highest rating 511 times – a remarkable 78% success rate.
