Temperatures well below freezing, gusts of snow and changeable weather - these were the conditions for our Winter High Performance Event 2022. We sent our Continental drivers and the high-performance cars of our tuning partners to Lapland once again this January to put our WinterContact™ TS 870 P to the test.
Unlike at other Continental high-performance events, our tuning partners were not allowed to drive their cars themselves. All vehicles were transported to Finland in advance by our tuning department and tested by our own drivers. The Winter High Performance Event is not about the quickest time, but about testing the capabilities of winter tyres. Among other things, the event tests how different driving styles affect our tyres and what effect the weight of a vehicle has on grip and traction in the ice and snow. As in our last Winter High Performance Event, special tracks have been prepared: a wide track, a handling circuit and a slalom course.
Our WinterContact™ TS 870 P is a true professional when it comes to high performance in the snow. Due to deep, intelligently arranged parallel sipes, less snow is picked up in the tyre tread, resulting in better grip and improved handling. In addition, our WinterContact™ TS 870 P has long wiping edges that ensure a shorter braking distance on frozen ground by draining slush and water extremely quickly. Available in sizes from 16 to 21 inches our WinterContact™ TS 870 P is an ideal tyre for all vehicle classes.
ABT, AC Schnitzer, APR, BRABUS, MTM, speedART, delta4x4 and STARTECH were among the tuners in 2022 who entrusted us with their vehicles to put them through our winter tyre test in Finland. Now it's proven: Our WinterContact™ TS 870 P is made for these conditions. Thanks to superior traction and an innovative rubber compound for increased grip, it defied ice, snow and sub-zero temperatures with ease.
Our Tuning team was supported by professional test drivers who steered these high horsepower machines safely over the snowy landscape. Each vehicle went through the individual test sections, with handling, acceleration and braking performance tested in winter weather conditions - after all, reliable braking is particularly important in winter.
