Since it's founding in 2011, we have been a leading supporter of women's football in England. Originally comprising just eight teams, we are proud to have contributed to the increased popularity of the women's game, and the expansion of the FA WSL to eleven teams, and promotion/relegation from/to WSL2.

As a partner of The FA, Continental Tyres are able to reach a broad and growing demographic, with a fan base and participation levels continuing to increase all the time. Through their support of the game at every level, they will be able to communicate with customers through a national programme with genuine local relevance and make a real and measurable difference to the progression of the sport.

“We are delighted to have Continental Tyres continue their association with the women’s game. Their support to date has made a huge difference at grassroots level through The FA Girls’ Football Festivals, as well as raising the profile of The FA WSL.”

Stuart Turner, Commercial Director at The Football Association

We are proud to support women's football, including our eight year sponsorship of the FA WSL Continental League Cup. This year's final, which took place at Bramall Lane, Sheffield, was contested by women's football giants Arsenal and Manchester City.

The competition begins with a round-robin group stage with 22 teams split across four groups. If a group match is drawn it will go straight to penalties (two points for a penalty win). The top two clubs in each group advance.

Manchester City won the FA Women’s Continental League Cup for a third time after a penalty shoot-out that saw Janine Beckie score the decisive spot-kick. Misses from Arsenal’s Leah Williamson and Danielle van de Donk, as City goalie Karen Bardsley came up trumps from 12 yards, helped seal the victory after a tense 0-0 across 120 minutes.

Grassroots football is vital for encouraging the expansion of the women's game. Between 2011 and 2015, Continental supported the FA Girls’ Football Festivals programme, leading to the participation of over 35,000 children in England.

The festivals offered the chance to engage with interactive games, like target shoot, speed cage, quick feet, batak board, as well as playing in mini matches, experiencing ContiWarmUp, many WSL player appearances, referee sessions, and an interactive trailer featuring the trophies of women’s football in England.

At Continental we know how important it is to have the best foundations to ensure you can perform at your best.

That’s why we have teamed up with St George’s Park, the training and preparation ground for all of the 24 England national football teams, to ensure the teams have everything they need.

Facilities comprise 14 football pitches, including a full size indoor 3G pitch, and an exact replica of the Wembley pitch. Furthermore, there are state of the art rehabilitation and sports science areas, and an indoor Futsal sports hall.

Just like our legendary Contidrom track at our HQ in Hanover, Germany, only the best will do. We've taken tyre testing to a new level. Through a fully automated process in the Contidrom hall, an unmanned test vehicle accelerates up to speeds of 75 mph (120 km/h) and then brakes on interchangeable, hydraulically powered road surfaces.

And just like the facilities at St George's Park, tests can be conducted all year round. At Contidrom, tests are conducted on both wet and dry road surfaces, and in a separate ice lane to check the performance of winter tyres and all-season tyres.

We know from experience that continued testing and training ultimately allows you - and us - to be the best.

The Continental Tyres Challenge

An integral part of our partnership with St. George’s Park is the Continental Tyres Challenge which will test your footballing ability by putting you through six core skill based activities.

  • Precision - pick your spot and shoot - have you got the accuracy?
  • Power - have you got the power? Measure your kick-speed with the Continental Speed Trap
  • Reaction - test your speed on the Batak board
  • Endurance - how good is your engine? Test yourself on the hill climb
  • Control - beat the pros at the testing Quick Feet challenge
  • Acceleration - on the Continental Tyres Sprint track - have you got the best 0-60?
  • Similar to a footballer, our tyres have to perform at their best in all six areas.

Players of all ages and ability can compete to be top of the leaderboard in each of the six disciplines. So you can pitch yourself against your mates but also everyone else who participated in the challenge before. With the high profile players and teams going through St. George’s Park you might even be able to challenge yourself against some of the best players in the world.
