Tyre advice series: Load Rating

What is load rating and where you can find the correct one for your vehicle?

A tyre's load rating is the maximum weight it can carry. It is vital that the correct load index is chosen for your vehicle or else safety and tyre life span could be comprimised.

The load rating can be found on your tyre sidewall and is highlighted in the video below. This should match the information found in you vehicle owners manual, so be sure to double check when purchasing your tyres.

Heavier vehicles such as the Volvo featured will have a reinforced tyre variant denoted by the XL marking on the sidewall, so look out for this too.
