Chelsea saw their first ever victory in the competition as they defeated Arsenal 2-1 in the finale at Nottingham Forest's City Ground.
Possession was dominated by Arsenal throughout much of the game however a resilient Chelsea back line kept the Gunners at bay.
The final saw its best turn out yet as it was played in front of a record 6,743 spectators in which we were there to get them to the game safely. We have been supporting women’s football since 2011 and it is great to see how far it has come.
Under the extended agreement we remain the official tyre partner to the England Women’s Senior Team and we continue the uninterrupted role as title partner to ‘The FA Continental Tyres Women’s League Cup’ since the inaugural competition in 2011.
The FA’s Head of Women’s Marketing and Commercial, Marzena Bogdanowicz, celebrated the renewal: “We are delighted that Continental Tyres has chosen to continue to partner the Women’s game in England. Since they first supported women’s football huge strides have been made on and off the pitch and they’ve been an integral part of The FA’s journey to grow the game. Following the record crowd at November’s Wembley Stadium fixture, the future is very exciting, and we’re delighted that Continental Tyres will be a part of it.”
As a partner of The FA, Continental Tyres are able to reach a broad and growing demographic, with a fan base and participation levels continuing to increase all the time. Through their support of the game at every level, they will be able to communicate with customers through a national programme with genuine local relevance and make a real and measurable difference to the progression of the sport.
That’s why we have teamed up with St George’s Park, the training and preparation ground for all of the 24 England national football teams, to ensure the teams have everything they need.
Facilities comprise 14 football pitches, including a full size indoor 3G pitch, and an exact replica of the Wembley pitch. Furthermore, there are state of the art rehabilitation and sports science areas, and an indoor Futsal sports hall.
Just like our legendary Contidrom track at our HQ in Hanover, Germany, only the best will do. We've taken tyre testing to a new level. Through a fully automated process in the Contidrom hall, an unmanned test vehicle accelerates up to speeds of 75 mph (120 km/h) and then brakes on interchangeable, hydraulically powered road surfaces.
And just like the facilities at St George's Park, tests can be conducted all year round. At Contidrom, tests are conducted on both wet and dry road surfaces, and in a separate ice lane to check the performance of winter tyres and all-season tyres.
An integral part of our partnership with St. George’s Park is the Continental Tyres Challenge which will test your footballing ability by putting you through six core skill based activities.
Players of all ages and ability can compete to be top of the leaderboard in each of the six disciplines. So you can pitch yourself against your mates but also everyone else who participated in the challenge before. With the high profile players and teams going through St. George’s Park you might even be able to challenge yourself against some of the best players in the world.
