ContiThunderRun is held in the grounds of Catton Park, Walton-on-Trent.

Catton Park is a beautiful rural estate on the border between Staffordshire and Derbyshire, yet is easy to reach from the A38 dual carriageway, M1, M40 & M6 motorways.

DON’T RELY ON YOUR STAV NAV – PLEASE READ

To avoid an extremely narrow bridge at Walton on Trent everyone must approach from the A38 between Lichfield and Burton-on-Trent. Leave the A38 taking the A513 signed for Tamworth and Alrewas. Head towards Tamworth on the A513, after approx. 1.5 miles you will go under a railway bridge. Take the left turn immediately after the bridge. The event arena will be on the right-hand side after about 1 mile.

Parking

On site parking is included for ticket holders. Further information about the parking procedure will be issued ahead of the event.

There is a designated parking area for Blue Badge holders within the main event field.  Blue Badges must be clearly displayed.

Camping

Camping is included at ContiThunderRun for all ticket holders for Friday & Saturday night.  The event site opens at 11am on Friday 22/7/2022. Full details will be issued to ticket holders ahead of the event.

General Camping - Campers are permitted to drive to their chosen camping spot to drop off their camping gear. Vehicles must be moved out to the car parks as soon as you have unloaded your camping gear.

Campervans and caravans are permitted to park in the campsite areas, but cars must be unhitched and moved to the car park.

Solo Camping - The exception to the rule is that each solo runner is permitted to park one car within the designated solo campsite area. The regular rules apply to any helpers or supporters’ vehicles, and these must be parked in the main car parks. Should solo runners wish to camp with friends in the main campsites they must adhere to the regular camping and parking procedure.

 

What's On

There’s always more to ContiThunderRun than just the 24hr race. Here’s some of the highlights that will be there to get involved with.

Pyjama Run: Friday 7pm

The Pyjama Run at ContiThunderRun is a fun run for under 12s held on the Friday evening. It’s completely FREE to enter, the kids love it plus it helps them burn off some energy before bed! 

Every runner is awarded with a certificate, a medal and a hot chocolate. Register now at www.tr24.org/pjrun

ContiThunderRun 10K

The ContiThunderRun 10K is a stand-alone race completing one lap of the course starting at 9am on the Saturday morning.  This is a great way for younger runners and those wanting to get a taste for what TR24 is all about.

The 10K is run over exactly the same route as the 24hr race, so expect a bit of everything. Come prepared for roots, rocks, mud, climbs, fast sections & everything in between.

Entries are open to all over 16s & cost £18. All finishers receive a commemorative medal, with prizes being awarded to the top three male & female finishers.

Yoga

The Yoga for Runners sessions from Jakaranda Yoga have been a big hit over the last few years so we are delighted to have them back in the schedule again.  All sessions are FREE to attend but you are welcome to leave a donation if you see fit. Register now at www.tr24.org/yoga

Live Music

Friday night at ContiThunderRun is always lively and accompanied by some great live music and DJ sets.  Details of acts will follow nearer the date.  Then Saturday night the party moves into the woods to keep spirits high when it gets dark.

Slacklining

Watch a demo from the experts making it all look so easy then get involved and see how quickly you can pick up this addictive challenge of balance & movement.

Climbing Wall

All day on Saturday we will have a multi-activity climbing wall on site in the main arena for kids and adults alike to tackle. Learn some new skill and have a great laugh at the same time!

Kids Activities

A full schedule of fun and games will be confirmed in the New Year.

 

Event Village

You’ll find plenty of things to do in our event village to keep you busy in between laps. There’ll be a great range of displays and shops including Exposure Lights, Torq Performance, Scimitar Sports & Alton Sports.

Food & Drink

Keeping well fuelled is a key part of success at any race, especially TR24, so we have a great range of food options that should cater for most diets covering your needs for carbo-loading through to middle of the night comfort foods. 

There will be pasta, jackets, crepes, coffee & cake, wood fired pizza, fish & chips, fresh juices & smoothies, plus much more. You can expect gluten free, vegetarian & vegan choice on the menu too.
